Kerry Harmanis is one of Western Australia’s most successful mining executives and investors. He has been a major shareholder and strong supporter of Talisman since 2007 and joined the Talisman board on 15 July 2020. He currently holds an 18.6% stake in the Company.
With a career spanning more than 40 years in the Australian exploration and mining industry, Kerry was the founder and Executive Chairman of Jubilee Mines NL, a highly successful Western Australian nickel miner which he established in 1987.
Through a combination of exploration success, focused project development and operational consistency, Jubilee Mines grew to become one of the most successful mid-tier miners on the ASX until its acquisition by Xstrata for A$3.1 billion in October 2007.
During this period, Kerry led a highly successful geological and operational team which helped Jubilee set new benchmarks on the ASX for shareholder returns in the resource sector.
Todd Ross is a mining and finance executive with more than 27 years’ experience spanning the resources, banking and capital markets sectors. He has a strong track record in leading ASX-listed exploration companies, project financing, corporate advisory, business development and capital raising across the global resources industry.
Prior to joining Talisman, Todd served as Managing Director of DevEx Resources and previously as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nordic Nickel (now Nordic Resources), where he led the Company’s successful ASX listing and advancement of its flagship nickel project in Finland before transitioning to the role of Chairman.
Prior to his executive leadership roles in the resources sector, Todd held senior positions with BNP Paribas, Royal Bank of Canada, Westpac, Commonwealth Bank of Australia and Oakvale Capital. As Managing Director, Head of Western Australia and Head of Metals & Mining at BNP Paribas, he was responsible for the bank’s mining and energy strategy and was involved in the financing and development of numerous resource projects in Australia and internationally.
He holds a Bachelor of Business (Finance and Marketing) from Edith Cowan University, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment (FINSIA) and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD). He is also a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (MAusIMM).
Jeremy Kirkwood joined Talisman in April 2016 and has extensive experience in corporate strategy, investment banking and global capital markets, providing invaluable strategic input and guidance to the Company’s board and management team.
Jeremy is a principal of Pilot Advisory Group and was previously Managing Director of Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley and Austock. He has primarily worked in public markets, undertaking merger and acquisitions and capital raisings for companies principally in the metals and mining, energy and infrastructure sectors.
Jeremy is also the Chair of Geelong Grammar School, Chairman of Nurturecare Pty Ltd, Director of Independent Schools Victoria and is a Trustee of the Ross Trust.
Jeremy serves on the Company’s Audit, Nomination and Remuneration Committees.
Brian is a mining engineer with an extensive international mining industry background which includes direct experience in growing several resource companies from initial discovery exploration right through to highly valuable and complex operating organisations.
Brian’s diverse expertise covers key industry elements – from exploration and discovery, through the feasibility, funding, approvals, project development, mining and processing operations along with optimisation, logistics, product marketing, M&A, and closure activities. This included site management and corporate responsibilities in a diversity of challenging and highly successful underground, open pit and processing operations across many commodities and geographies. Prior to joining Talisman, Brian held executive positions in Australia with Jubilee Mines, Western Areas, LionOre Australia, WMC, Normandy Mining, and Aberfoyle. Before moving to Australia Brian worked in Oman and in Zambia on significant underground and open pit integrated copper operations.
Brian serves on the Company’s Audit, Nomination and Remuneration Committees. With extensive industry experience and being financially literate, Brian is considered qualified to hold these responsibilities.
Mark is a geologist and mining executive with more than 30 years’ experience in gold exploration, mining geology and economic evaluation.
He held senior positions with Doray Minerals Limited during its growth from junior gold explorer to ASX 300 producer through to its merger with Silver Lake Resources, including as General Manager – Geology and Exploration, and subsequently served as Managing Director of Gateway Mining Limited.
His earlier career includes senior operational and exploration roles with Harmony Gold at the South Kalgoorlie Operations and at the Morobe Mining Joint Venture in Papua New Guinea.
He holds a Master of Science (Mineral Economics) from the Western Australian School of Mines and a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Applied Geology from Curtin University, and is a Member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy (AusIMM).
